  • A Hong Kong-Mainland co-production, The Virtuous Queen Of Han is a highly-rated historical drama based on the life of Wei Zifu, who rose from humble beginnings to become the second longest-reigning empress in Chinese history.

    Born into a poor family from which she was cast out at a young age, Wei Zifu (Wang Luodan) has nevertheless grown into a gentle, considerate and intelligent woman, and she makes her living working as a servant in the household of Princess Pingyang (Niki Chow), sister of Liu Che (Raymond Lam), Emperor Wu of Han. After a chance meeting, Wei Zifu and Liu Che build up a rapport, and Liu Che quickly brings Wei Zifu into the palace.

    Once in the palace, Wei Zifu finds herdelf feeling the wrath of wildly jealous sitting empress Chen A Jiao. The only person in her corner is Duan Hong (Jones Xu), one of Liu Che's personal guards who in the twist of fate, is actually a childhood friend of Wei Zifu's, and has long harbored feelings for her.
