It's early morning in Kagurazaka, Tokyo. Ippei Tawara, Ryuji Komiya, and Tamotsu Sakashita are driving to Tsukiji Fish Market. Amid the hustle and bustle of the morning market, Ryuji selects the food, Tamotsu takes notes, and Ippei carries the goods to their car.

At the well-established Japanese restaurant Sakashita, in Kagurazaka, the employees are making preparations. Female employee Ritsuko Sakashita says that an apprentice cook will be arriving today. That's when the oh-okami Yumeko Sakashita appears. She tells Ritsuko to pick up the new apprentice. But Ritsuko refuses, saying that she gave him a map, so he will be fine. In this restaurant, Ritsuko is the one who has real power. Soon after, Yukino Tawara, Ippei's mother and owner of Bar Yukino, comes to the restaurant. After just saying "hello," she heads to Yumeko's room and tells her that Seijiro Kumazawa has been hospitalized. Although Seijiro has retired from politics, he still wields great power. He is important to Yumeko as well as the restaurant. Yumeko tells Yukino not to tell Ritsuko about Seijiro being hospitalized.

When Ippei is at a Laundromat, Ritsuko calls and tells him to pick up the apprentice who seems to have gotten lost. The new apprentice's name is Tokio Nakagawa. He is surprised at the number of dishes he must wash and how busy the restaurant is. But when he is introduced to Ritsuko and Tamotsu's daughter, Eri, he is overjoyed at how charming Eri is.

Meanwhile, in Yumeko's room, head chef Ryuji is told about Seijiro's illness. That's when Seijiro calls Ryuji and says that he wants to meet Ryuji secretly. At the hospital, Seijiro asks a favor of Ryuji...

Theme song Papier by Moriyama Ryoko.
