  • Synopsis
  • At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the emperor Ching (Moses Chan) wants to save the country from foreign invasion. Unfortunately, the country is already falling apart. With his queen, Zhou's (Maggie Siu) help, they pass many difficult times. Their daughters, Ping (Charmaine Sheh) and Yan (Sonija Kwok), are used to comfortable living and are not aware of the crisis within their country. Their best friend, Hin (Steven Ma), only loves Ping and they secretly make a pledge under the lover's tree.

    Hin and Ping's love is never easy, One day, the queen and her princesses are exiled by the emperor after his mistress has set them up. Since then, Hin loses track of Ping. Ping meets Hing (Michael Tong)at an arsenal. Hing pities her and falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Hin's family starts to fall. He has to work in the arsenal and meets Ping again. When the emperor finds out that he has made a mistake about exiling his queen and princesses, he picks them up again. Hin is appointed to teach in the palace and so can be with Ping again. Nice time never lasts, Hin is called to fight the battle and has to depart from Ping.

    The invader, Shing, breaks into the palace and ends the era of Ming. Later, Kwei (Marco Ngai) leads the Ching army into the country and Ching Dynasty starts. Hin and Ping meet up again and manage to finish their wedding ceremony before they commit suicide on the same night. Although they are gone from the world, they leave behind a legendary love story.
