She is found guilty and sentenced to death. Ying is dead; her spirit stays in her braid, which is kept in the Evidence Room.

The grown-up Kim has now become a policeman and is responsible for guarding the Evidence Room. Inside the room, he finds Ying's braid. The two of them finally meet again. Ying misses Wah very much and Kim promises to help her locate Wah's whereabouts. With the assistance of Ying, Kim has successfully cracked a number of difficult cases. Tsang po Yin (Eddie Cheung), a distant relative of Kim, has been ill-treated by her step-mother. Yin puts up in Kim's place, and the two fall in love with each other. Ying has eventually found Wah but is so shocked and sad to see that her daughter, like herself, is being wronged and made a scapegoat...
