ストーリー紹介
Ryomaden is the 49th NHK's Taiga drama...

Ryoma is the youngest child of the merchant samurai Sakamoto family and lost his mother at his young age.

When Ryoma grow up, he runs away from Tosa and heading to Edo, at there, he meets Katsura Kogoro, Yoshida Shoin and Chiba Sadakichi and also sees the black ships, a major event that rocks Japan.

When Ryoma returns to Tosa, he matures as he overcomes the hardships of life - the death of his father; imprisonment of Iwasaki Yataro; breakdown of his friendship with Takechi Hanbeita; and breakup with his first love, Hirai Kao.

When Ryoma leaves Tosa he meets Katsu Kaishu, who is destined to be his mentor. Influenced by the "Black Ship Event" Ryoma decided building a navy for Japan, Ryoma gathers his friends and struggles to establish the Kobe Naval School. Then he meets Narasaki Ryo, who is to be his life partner, in a faithful encounter....
