Some 500 years later, a man is found lying injured in the wilderness and is rescued by an embroidery worker from a nearby village. Recovered, he finds work at the embroidery and dye house. In his dreams, he meets an eminent monk who unravels the mystery of his background. Edwin recalls his name and reunites with good friend Constable Roxanne Tong, only to become her rival. The bickering pair develop feelings for each other. Jessica also confesses her feelings to Edwin.
The village soon experiences a crisis courtesy of the Black Demons. To save the people, Edwin must vow to let go of love and desire. In the end, he learns that karma does exist and that fate is indeed preordained.
