  • Synopsis
  • Known for crafting delicate, relationship-driven character studies, Hong Kong director James Yuen (LOST IN TIME, THOSE WERE THE DAYS) brings his romantic sensibilities to the warmhearted action-comedy CRAZY AND THE CITY. World-weary and cynical from seven years of police work, burnt-out cop Chris Chan (Eason Chan) is assigned a new partner in the form of idealistic female rookie Man-liu (pop star Joey Yung). While Chris finds himself rejuvenated by his young partner's optimism--as well as the attentions of two nymphet schoolgirls--Man-liu is challenged by the case of a mentally unhinged recluse (Francis Ng) who may be responsible for a string of sexually sadistic serial killings. Yuen deftly balances the darker elements of a police procedural with the light and breezy tone of a soap opera for a distinctly Cantonese pop confection.
