- In the Warring States period, Mi Yue was King Wei of Chu's favorite little princess. However, her life fell apart after her father's death, driving her and her brother to hide in the palace to avert disaster. Mi Yue had a childhood sweetheart, but she was sent as an attendant to the state of Qin when her sister, Mi Shu, married there.
Mi Shu began to be the queen of Qin, while Mi Yue became a consort. After Mi Yue delivered a son, however, her relationship with Mi Shu deteriorated, tainted by harem politics.
Before long, Mi Yue and her son were sent to the distant state of Yan, but unexpectedly, Qin entered a state of turmoil. Mi Yue's son turned into the next king of Qin, making Mi Yue the first empress dowager in Chinese history - the Empress Dowager Xuan.
