    Sung Chi (Bobby Au) negotiates with the village headman together with a female gallant, Tong Sze (Jessica Hsuan) regarding the issue of distribution of land. Meanwhile, the village headman was murdered. Both Chi and Sze are involved into trouble and are sentenced to death. With the help of a new district governor Sung Yik (Frankie Lam) and a coroner, Ma Kwai. Chi and Sze could eventually wash off the disgrace. Yik employs Chi to be the funeral parlor worker. Yik and Chi cooperate to clear up many mysterious and complicated cases and become very famous.

    Sze secretly admires Yik. However, Yik has fallen in love with Lip Fung (Chan Miu Ying) instead. A man whose appearance is same as Yik suddenly appears. This false Yik disguises as the district governor so as to win both fame and wealth. In order to conceal the truth, he killed the real Sung Yik.
