One day at a wedding, the "Power Office Girls" meet head-to-head with the others from Manpan Trading. The bride is none other than Chinatsu Tsuboi.

As Chinatsu stares into her husband's eyes just after exchanging wedding rings, one can hear people saying things like "I never would have suspected that Chinatsu would tie the knot," and "Her husband graduated from Tokyo University, and his father is the owner of a large business conglomerate." While this is taking place, Sawako is caught gazing at Ukyo. So Chinatsu asks Rie, Ume, and Kana if they want to bet 100,000 yen each on whether Sawako will have her first sexual experience by the end of June or not. Chinatsu knows she has the bet won just by looking at Sawako's face.

Manpan Trading, which Chinatsu has just resigned from, is in the middle of a big financial restructuring--which will lead to a lot of people being put out of work. Unless the company can downsize by 200 people in June, the banks won't help finance them any longer. As part of this, the banks have sent in a group of personnel consultants headed by a guy named Aoyama. Not wanting to be overrun by a foreign affiliated company who would fire the top managers anyway, the president of Manpan Trading decides he's going to get rid of the employees himself.

When the head-over-heels Sawako takes Ukyo his new business cards, all he has to say to her is "thanks for wasting your time." On her way back to the office, the despondent Sawako doesn't even have a clue that she just passed a suspicious character who is delivering "happy lunches" throughout the company.

Back in the General Affairs Department, the manager, Mr. Inoue says "It sure is lonesome without Chinatsu here." The other 4 girls who seem to be relieved that Chinatsu is out of their hair, tell him that all she wants to do is "show off what kind of rich life she's leading now." More importantly to them though is who is going to take over carrying Chinatsu's ladder. Just as they are pondering about this, Sawako returns. As she feels them looking at her, they brand her as the "heir apparent to Chinatsu's ladder."

In the hallway, doing her best to carry the ladder is Sawako, and the rest of the girls who face off with the secretaries. As always, they've got something to say to each other. "You know about the company downsizing right? Your names are at the top of the list." "Pull it together Sawako, you're working in Chinatsu's place now!" the four tell her.

With axe in hand, Aoyama continues the downsizing. The girls from General Affairs are on the hit list, and so are the secretaries, including Misono, and some of the people working under Ukyo. For those that don't want to resign, jobs such as farming, pest control, and copying the entire phone book are just waiting for them. Even as others around them are handing in their resignations, the girls from General Affairs keep plugging away. So Aoyama and his henchmen have devised a plan especially for them.

The son of a "gyudon" (beef served over rice) franchise chain, Akagi, approaches Sawako. He tells her that he's seen her before at work, and asks her to come work for him. He also adds that he wants her to "think about her future, and to start a relationship with him." Sawako doesn't know what to do...

The list of 200 people who will resign is all the way down to 1 now. Ukyo gets wind that it is the president and the rest of the high level management that are responsible for this, and tells them he won't let them get away with "trying to axe people down in sheer numbers." But of course they don't listen to him. During the explanation about severance pay, Ukyo declares that "he can't take it anymore" and pulls out his letter of resignation from his chest pocket. However, Sawako comes forth and...
